OpenSSH: suite of secure networking utilities based on the secure shell protocol. Provides a secure channel over an unsecured network.

  1. Port forwarding:

allows forwarding of TCP/IP connections to a remote machine over an encrypted channel. Insecure applications can be secured with this.

  1. Strong authentication:

protects against several security problems: IP spoofing, fake routes, DNS spoofing. Public key authentication, one-time passwords.
